Hilton Head

This summer Troy and I have been able to go down to the condo in Hilton Head twice. It has been nice, but we only got to go for about 2-3 days each time. I wish I could stay longer and explore more. This past weekend we went down with Matt and Jen. We were able to do a lot and had tons of fun. The first night we were there, there was a storm passing through. The waves were pretty big and we took the boogey boards down and played around on those. The next day we went to the outlet malls, went out to eat, and rented bikes. I loved riding the bikes. Their condo is near the Port Royal neighborhood, so we rode our bikes around there. They have a beautiful golf course and huge homes! Then that night after dark we went down to the beach and lit a fire. We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. We also roasted starbursts (delicious--you should try it. they are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside). I absolutely love sitting on the beach at night when there is a full moon. Everything is so peaceful and quiet and the waves are crashing on the shore in the background. It was nice to have a mini vacation.

New Carpet

Well I guess its about time to post the pictures of our new carpet. I put up pictures of the old carpet and the new carpet. This carpet is going in the 3 bedrooms and the living room upstairs. Everything is done except the master bedroom, which will be done in the next week or so. Anyways, its a freize carpet, and it is really nice. The color is very neutral and looks great with the new paint in the living room. I know Becky and Melissa really want to see it, so here you go!

The Sneaky Chef Part 2

Just a quick update on my adventures with the sneaky chef--I tried out fettucini alfredo. (Its name is actually fettucini don't be afraid-o! cute huh?) Anyways, it was really good. Instead of make the sauce out of cream, I used tofu! Tofu doesn't have its own flavor, it takes on the flavor of whatever it is with. It was really creamy and tasted just like regular alfredo. I put some bacon in there which made it extra good. The recipe actually calls for turkey bacon, but I couldn't afford it, so I put in regular bacon. I can't wait to try more recipes!

Blueberries

A few weeks ago, I was able to go pick blueberries. Troy, Jen and I drove out to Thomson to a blueberry farm. Once we got there, a sign was posted that said "closed due to heat index". I was pretty upset because I had called the lady earlier in the day to ask if I needed to make an appointment. She said I didn't need to and could just show up. Well, as we were leaving the farm, we saw a van pull up on the other side of the blueberry farm. We drove over and found out it was the lady's friend who comes and picks blueberries a lot. She offered to let up pick the blueberries and should would give the lady the money the next day at church. We ended up with at least 10 lbs or so. We had a lot! They were beautiful! So that night we made blueberry jam. It is so delicious! I ate some of them fresh, and froze the rest of them. I have a lot of ideas of things I want to use them for. I am going to make blueberry syrup, pancakes, muffins, smoothies, and whatever else I can think of. Maybe even blueberry ice cream. We'll see. In the next few weeks I am planning on going to pick peaches and canning/freezing those. I am excited about that and will let you know how it goes.

Graduation!

I finally graduated! In May I was able to participate in the ceremony, even though I still had two classes left to take. I finished those classes at the beginning of July and I now had a BBA in accounting. Unfortunately, right now it is a useless degree. I work as an accounts payable clerk making little money and doing a job that doesn't require a degree. I hear how in demand accounting degrees are, but I haven't heard about a lot of open jobs lately. I have sent in my resume to few places and even interviewed at a CPA firm, but I have had no luck so far. I guess I will have to keep looking.
